After losing to Hamilton 48-31 a couple of weeks ago, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers bounced back to defeat the Saskatchewan Roughriders 31-13.
Saskatchewan opened the scoring six minutes into the game with a 25-yard field goal by Brett Lauther. At the 8:24 mark of the first quarter, Winnipeg took the lead after Rasheed Bailey caught a 36-yard touchdown pass from Zach Collaros.
Fifty-eight seconds into the second quarter, Winnipeg extended their lead by three points after Marc Liegghio scored a 22-yard field goal. The Bombers widened their lead to fourteen points near the end of the quarter after Nic Demski caught a 25-yard touchdown pass from Zach Collaros.
Cody Fajardo's 7-yard touchdown run near the midpoint of the third quarter allowed the Riders to narrow Winnipeg's lead to seven points.
Neither team was able to score any points during the second half of the fourth quarter. At the 2:46 mark, Brett Lauther scored a 14-yard field goal for Saskatchewan. Blue Bombers Nic Demski and Dalton Schoen caught touchdown passes from Zach Collaros, at the 3:42 and 5:57 marks respectively. With no response from the Roughriders, the Bombers got back in the win column.
With tonight's win, the Blue Bombers have clinched a home playoff game.
