The Parkland Gators swimming season is right around the corner and they're looking for more swimmers. They have three groups, beginners, non-competitive and competitive.
The beginners season opens on October 3 and runs until March 27 with practices running Mondays and Wednesdays from 6:30 to 7:30. The non-competitive swimmers; meanwhile, practice on Mondays and Wednesdays from 7:30 to 9:00 and the fee is $550 for the season which also runs from October 3 to March 27.
Then the competitive season is much longer, running from October 4 to June 17 and this is for swimmers that are interested in taking their abilities to the next level and competing in events throughout the province and into Saskatchewan.
The fee is $1600 for the season which includes six hours of swimming and one hour of dryland training. Competitive swimmers swim on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:00 to 9:00 and Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.
Warren Heschuk takes care of the team's finances and he says being a Gator is a great opportunity for swimmers.
"It's a great team environment, kids have so much fun when they're heading to competitions," said Heschuk. "It's a great group with a lot of fun. Even if you're not in the competitive and don't go to competitions, it's still a great chance to meet some new friends and improve your skills or learn for the first time."
There are currently spots in all three groups available. If you're interested, you can reach out to the Gators on their Facebook page.
