The Dauphin Kings put together a full 60 minute effort in a 4-2 victory over the Winkler Flyers Sunday night.
The win is Head Coach Marc Berry’s first in the MJHL, it also snaps the Kings’ four game losing skid and the Flyers’ three game winning streak.
The first period saw the Kings out shot 18-12 but had them finishing on their lone chance with Landon Plett notching his seventh of the campaign. In the second the Kings played very good and Graeme Hore was rewarded with high fourth of the season following a scramble in front of the Winkler goal. In the third the two teams traded goals. The Flyers tallied on a man advantage marker by Zak Hicks to make it 2-1, but credit the Kings for not falling back on their heels. Dauphin bounced back to take a 3-1 advantage when Aaron Kellogg scored his third in four games. Winkler would get close again before Daniel Chartrand (3) added an empty netter with one second left in the affair.
Power Plays were heavily in favour of Winkler. The Flyers ended the night 1 for 6 on the Power Play, the Kings were 0 for 3.
