Some of the best figure skaters in the province will be taking over Credit Union Place tomorrow. Skate Dauphin is getting set to host the 2020 Skate Canada Manitoba Synchronized Skating Championships for one day only.

The event begins at 9:30 and it will go until approximately until 3:30 p.m. Something special happening will be the perogy toss which will take place right after the Opening Ceremonies at 12:00 p.m.

"We're putting our Dauphin twist into this event and it's definitely something unique that people will want to see," said Donna Kemp-Drysdale.

18 teams in total will take part in the event and that means nearly 200 skaters will be in town to show off their best stuff.

"The energy in the building will overwhelm people, there will be a ton of cheering," she continued. "The skating skill will also be incredible."

Some teams have as many as 21 skaters and all will be on the ice at the same time.

Tickets are just $5 for adults, $3 for seniors and students aged 5-to-17, and children under five are free. Competitors will range from young kids to adults and everything in between.

"There will be a wide range of ages and that will make for an incredible day," she concluded.
