Repairs are underway at a pair of water main issues in Dauphin.
The city says there is a water main break on 4th Avenue NE near Mountain Road.
Mike van Alstyne - the city's director of public works - says residents in that area might notice a discolouration of their water while the repairs are being done.
There is also a water main leak in the area of Merrill Avenue.
Van Alstyne says the water valves in that area have been turned down in order to be able to do those repairs, meaning residents in that part of the city might see a reduction in pressure in their taps.
No timeline has been given for when these issues will be fixed

The freezing rain that fell throughout the day and evening yesterday is making for some slippery road conditions in and around Dauphin this morning.
Please give yourself extra time to get to your destination today.
Some bus cancellations to pass along to you - all Mountain View and Park West school division buses have been cancelled due to the icy roads.
All schools within both divisions will still be open today, and learning will be taking place.
Students in MVSD who will not be at school today are expected to check their classes via their online platform

Parkland area residents enjoyed some success at the Manitoba Country Music Association awards, which were presented Saturday night in Winnipeg.
Emma Peterson of Winnipegosis walked away with three awards, including Female Artist of the Year, Interactive Artist of the Year, and Single of the Year for her songs"Got It Back “.
Nelson Little, who is also originally from the Winnipegosis area, won the Roots Artist, Duo, or Group of the Year.
And it was also a good night for us at 730 CKDM, as we were named Radio Station of the Year.

It looks like a plan is being put into place to get ice into the Winnipegosis Arena.
The geothermal plant at the arena failed when attempts to make artificial ice began a few weeks ago.
Late last week, Mossey River Municipal council passed a resolution to hire a contractor to conduct emergency repairs to the plant and to open up an insurance claim related to this.
While the repairs are taking place, council says they will be working with the board at the Winnipegosis Arena on a plan to install natural ice in the facility once weather permits.
No timeline has been given for either the completion of the repairs or the installation of natural ice.

Swan Valley Co-op has announced that it has reached an agreement to purchase home and building retail stores in Swan River and The Pas from the Minsh group of companies.
Each property, which includes over 9,000 square feet of retail space, as well as a lumber yard and storage facilities, marks the return of Swan Valley Co-op to the home and building business.
In a news release, Swan Valley Co-op General Manager Colin Peters says the acquisition will allow them to respond to the needs of their members and communities, adding that they see opportunities for further growth, as they continue to build important relationships and partnerships.
Financial terms of the purchase were not released.
The acquisition, which is subject to conditions, is expected to close by late November, with Swan Valley Co-op officially beginning operations as of December 1st.

Another summer has come and gone, and it's once again the time of year when we fall back an hour for daylight savings time.
This annual time shift has been in North America for well over a hundred years.
According to the Old Farmers Almanac, DST was widely adopted in 1918, around WW1 as an effort to conserve resources by operating in more daylight hours.
There was some pushback, mainly from the agricultural scene, as it affected them far more than urban individuals.
As a writer for the Literary Digest put it, “The farmer objects to doing his early chores in the dark merely so that his city brother, who is sound asleep at the time, may enjoy a daylight motor ride at eight in the evening.”
Dairy farmers presented a good amount of this push-back, as their dairy cows do not observe clocks, and their chore times were always consistent.
This led to a temporary repeal of DST in 1920, but it came back in force around WW2 in a similar fashion, to save resources for the war effort.
There has been some legislative action to end this practice in the United States, and Canada would likely do the same in that change.
Only time will tell when that happens.
So for now, be sure to set your clocks back an hour before you go to sleep tonight, and DST ends at 2 am overnight.

A low-pressure system heading this could bring some nasty weather and road conditions our way.
This developing system has the potential to bring freezing rain and snowfall to southern Manitoba this weekend.
The freezing rain is expected to develop early on Sunday morning and will blossom eastward as the low progresses. North of the freezing rain, snow that has the potential to be heavy will spread from western Manitoba through the interlake.
There is significant uncertainty with this system due to there being quite a range of weather model solutions regarding timing, temperature, and location. Variation in temperature even by a single degree will have the potential to greatly change the type of precipitation that will fall.
Be sure to keep an eye on the Government Of Canada's weather reports and the Manitoba 511 to keep track of the incoming system, and how it will affect the roadways in your area.

The Dauphin and District Community Foundation will be one of the benefactors of a new initiative by Tim Horton's Restaurants.
For over 25 years, Tim Hortons has become synonymous with their annual Smile Cookie campaign. This year, they are expanding the program with their first-ever Holiday Smile Cookie campaign.
From November 13 to 19, 100 percent of proceeds from each Holiday Smile Cookie sold will be donated to local charities and community groups.
Here in Dauphin, proceeds from the Holiday Smile Cookie Campaign at the local Tim Horton's restaurant will be divided between the Dauphin and District Community Foundation, and Tim Horton's Foundation Camps.
The campaign was created to give Tim Horton’s guests an opportunity to give back this holiday season and help to continue making a difference in their communities.

An R-M of Ethelbert resident will return to court later this month in relation to a break, enter, and theft at a Grandview business.
Dauphin RCMP says on October 2nd, someone broke into a business in the community, stole several items including power tools, and fled.
On October 13th, Mounties executed a search warrant at a property in the R-M of Ethelbert and seized multiple power tools, lawnmowers, a snowblower, and an A-T-V.
53-year-old Marc Dorais was arrested following the search and is due back in Dauphin court on November 15th.

Premier Wab Kinew says his government will deliver a throne speech on November 21st.
Kinew says the government's plans for the year ahead will focus on health care, affordability, and ending chronic homelessness.
He notes that prior to the throne speech, the legislative assembly will first elect a new Speaker on November 9th.
