Winnipeg Police Make Five Arrests
Winnipeg police have arrested five people in connection with the discovery of a man's body in a Dumpster earlier this month.
Investigators allege 43-year-old Garnet Walter Williams was with a small group of people on July 31st when he got into an argument and was assaulted.
Police allege he suffered critical injuries and was confined for a period of time before he died.
Days later, police allege the body was taken to a nearby garbage container.

Asenekak Casino Set To Close Its Doors
A casino just outside of The Pas may be closing.
An official with the Asenekak Casino says the business needs a larger market and may move closer to Winnipeg.
CEO Suzanne Barbeau Bracegirdle says less than a quarter of the casino's gaming machines and tables are being used.
She says the casino's 150 staff have been invited to relocate if the move happens.

Gimli Mayor Looks For Plane Parts
The mayor of Gimli is hoping to find some spare parts for a T-33 jet trainer that was recently damaged on its pedestal on the town's waterfront.
Randy Woroniuk says the plane has been removed from the pedestal after a heavy machine operator accidentally clipped an external fuel tank.
The plane was a gift from the RCAF, which once trained pilots there.
The jet has been damaged in Gimli before -- Woroniuk says it once survived a crash.
The pilot was successfully ejected.

Advocates for mental health say a promise from the federal government to improve services means the time is ripe to push for change.
Louise Bradley, executive director of the Mental Health Commission of Canada, says access to care is abysmal.
Bradley's organization and others are calling for the mental health share of health spending in the provinces and territories to increase by two percentage points over the next decade.

Pope Francis Plans To Visit Victims of Earthquake
Pope Francis says he plans to visit an area in Italy struck by a deadly earthquake to bring the people the "comfort of faith."
Francis also led prayers today for the inhabitants of an area struck by the powerful earthquake Wednesday that killed at least 290 people, including one Canadian.
People are beginning to come to terms with the latest devastation.
Italy's central mountains are a seismically active region that has suffered other earthquake tragedies in the past.
