An investigation is now underway after the Dauphin Fire Department responded to a structure fire on Tuesday morning.
At about 6:15 a.m., crews were dispatched to the fire in the Triangle Mobile Home Park. Upon arrival, crews made their way into the residence and no one was home at the time. The firefighters were quickly able to confine the sufficient fire to one unit, although there are no damage estimates at this time and there are no injuries to report.
With the assistance of the Manitoba Office of the Fire Commissioner, the investigation is now complete and it has been determined to be suspicious in nature. If you have any information, you're asked to call the Dauphin RCMP at 204-622-5050.

A brand-new fire truck will soon be on the way to the Town of Minnedosa.
Thanks to a $175,000 donation over the past two years from Cenovus Energy, which runs an ethanol plant in the community, the purchase of a new fire pumper will happen. $100,000 of the donation came to life because the Town entered into a fire services agreement with Cenovus Energy.
Minnedosa has also been working on a fire training centre for their department members and regional partners. Cenovus originally gave $25,000 before providing another $50,000 this year on top of the $100,000.
Jim Doppler is the chief administrative officer for the Town of Minnedosa and he was thrilled to find out about the donation.
"It allows us to not only complete our training centre but enhance it," said Doppler. "The fire services agreement also allows for some specialized training for our fire department and that's an attraction for us."
The Minnedosa Fire Department is volunteer run and Jim continues to be amazed at the work they do to protect and serve not only Minnedosa but surrounding areas.
"They are very engaged and very well trained," offered Doppler. "We have never had a shortage of volunteers so we are very well served by our fire department."

The Second annual pride celebration in Winnipegosis took place last Saturday, and it was a big hit!
A huge crowd, several vendors, and floats gathered in the town to spread a message of acceptance, understanding, and love.
Pride Winnipegosis President Cyndie Blythe and her wife Dr. Alison Carleton were very busy for the day, and Dr. Carleton was ecstatic about the turnout.
"It's been great! it's like double last year. I think last year we had just 1 vendor, and this year we've had 5 or 6. it's cool to see that people care about this community and want to participate"
Dr. Carleton also noted that seeing such support in a small town like this was amazing, and she was happy to get a chance to have this entertaining and educational event.
"This was an event we put together primarily for education. we wanted to show people that there are other ways of being than what they might know from their lived experience so far. it's also to broaden people's views and also to show acceptance of the community"
The Community showed a lot of support with the parade having a sizable attendance and quite a few poeple taking in the parade as it rolled through town with a police escort.
With the second annual Winnipegosis Pride being over twice as successful as the first year, the future is certainly looking more welcoming and accepting.

The trail that surrounds the town of Ste. Rose will see some serious developments with the new funding announced today.
Marie Sorlie, The Recreation Director for Ste. Rose is excited that this funding can finally be announced.

The Co-Op Community Spaces donation of $80,000 will allow the phase 2 projects that are planned for the area to go forward.
These projects will include expanding the trails, possibly adding a kayak and canoe launch, adding a disc golf course, and even adding a Nature Playpark to the town, which announcements will be made this week on its location.
It'll be behind the community hall in Ste. Rose. everyone is invited. it'll be a little community gathering.
This new donation brings the money raised for phase 2 to nearly $180,000 which Sorlie hopes will rejuvenate the town, the trails, and the tourism they bring.

A Swan River man is off the hook.
34-year-old Dallas Genaille was arrested in connection with a drug and firearm bust in the town back in 2021. Last week in Swan River Court; however, all of the charges against him were stayed.
In February of 2021, Swan River RCMP executed a search warrant at a home in the community where they found drugs believed to be crystal meth and cocaine, as well as firearms, cash, and drug paraphernalia.

Roblin's 8th annual Show & Shine returns this weekend with The Rumble In Roblin.
Starting at 4 pm on June 17th, a myriad of muscle cars, hot rods, classic cars, and more will take over Main Street in Roblin.
Event Coordinator Keith Fast is hoping to have just as many, if not more, cars than last year for this awesome evening.
"So our best year was 156 participants. We're hoping for at least that. we're hoping for more. It's free to enter, it's free to come down that night as well. it's a free event, free admission, and we'd just love for you to come down to Roblin on June 17th."

A very dedicated group of people in Grandview with a vision started the Grandview & District Health Foundation in 1998. Their goal was to support and enhance local health facilities.
Now going by the name of Grandview & District Community Foundation, the 25th anniversary was hosted recently with a free community BBQ at Wilson Park.
"We felt it was an occasion that was very important for us to celebrate," said Tannis Pulock, president. "Our intention was to host an event that would bring our community together to recognize all of the work done by past members and to create excitement for the future."
While the barbeque was free of charge, donations were welcomed and in all, a total of $4036.95 was collected. The money will now go towards purchasing new pool chairs at the Grandview swimming pool.
"To say we were overwhelmed by the response of our community is an understatement," said Pulock. "It was just another case of community members from Grandview and district coming together for a great cause."
Over the past 25 years, more than $350,000 has been given back to the community thru the Grandview & District Community Foundation. That includes money going to the Grandview Legion, Grandview Homecoming, Grandview Manor, the Parent Advisory Council, and Kidsport Program, to name a few.
Tannis has been with the foundation for five years. She first joined because she knew the good they were doing in the community and she wanted to be a part of it. Pulock is also incredibly proud to be a part of such a special foundation that does so many amazing things.
"It's really important to me to carry on the work of the founding members of the organization and to those who have succeeded them," ended Pulock. "This is only possible because people have chosen to donate and make an investment in our community. I am very proud to be a part of such a generous community."

A new booming industry is taking off in the province, as the Potash and Agri Development Corporation of Manitoba (PADCOM) begins mining at Manitoba's first-ever potash mine.
This new operation is located near the Manitoba-Saskatchewan border near the town of Harrowby. the town will likely see some growth as this mine really ramps up production.]
The newly completed mine is looking to put out some sizeable numbers, up to 250,000 tonnes of potash annually.
These production numbers could see some series profit, and PADCOM's President Daymon Guillas says they're looking to invest back into communities.
“It will be a catalyst for more economic development in our region and the entire province.”
PADCOM has committed to sharing 11 percent of net profits with local First Nations, Manitoba Métis Federation, and other local governments as part of their efforts to share the wealth.
This potash mine isn't just a good move for the economy, but also for the environment, as its use of hydroelectricity and its unique low-disturbance process for mining make it the lowest carbon-emitting potash mine on the planet.
The site uses an innovative selective solution mining process, which involves injecting heated brine into the ground to dissolve potash and then extract the solution.
Premier Heather Stephenson noted having this large-scale operation in our province will move Manitoba up on the global stage of mining, as well as being a massive boon to local agriculture, as potash is a critical mineral used as a fertilizer.
From fertilizer to farms, to financial standings, this new mining operation is going to be growing a lot in this province.

The Dauphin Fire Department does an incredible job serving the community when called upon and that was the case earlier this week.
On Thursday evening, they were called to the DRS storage building on 4th Avenue SE and upon their arrival, they extinguished a blaze that was only dozens of minutes away from becoming out of control.
While en route; however, an individual on a bicycle refused to move for one of the responding trucks. The individual was swerving across the lanes and they also shone a flashlight into the eyes of the driver and passenger of the responding truck.
As Cam Abrey says, that is something that can't happen.
"Anytime that you see an emergency vehicle whether it be an ambulance, a fire truck, or an RCMP vehicle and they have their lights and signs activated, we ask that people pull to the right and make way for the vehicles to safely respond," said Abrey. "We also ask people not to take any sudden actions because we don't want to cause any secondary incident, but slowly reduce your speed and pull to the right."
Failing to do so could also result in disciplinary action.
"There is a way that we can pursue that with the RCMP and have someone charged with impeding the progress of an emergency vehicle responding to an incident," ended Abrey.
Cam also said that anytime you need the DFD, they will be here to serve and protect.

The Provincial Government has recently announced a free weekend for visiting provincial parks and fishing in Manitoba.
From June 9th through June 11th, access to all of Manitoba's provincial parks will be free to anyone entering the parks.
Fishing throughout the province will also not require a license in most places in the province.
It is important to note that both of these free passes apply only to provincial areas, so national parks like Riding Mountain will still federally regulated passes for access and fishing.
Manitoba's Parks Manager of Recreation and Education Elizabeth Ostruck has some excellent tips for people who might be getting out to enjoy this free weekend in the wild.
"An enjoyable camping trip is all about being prepared. you should always prepare with bug spray and sunscreen, make sure you stay hydrated, only make campfires in approved fire pits, and never leave them unattended. We don't want any accidental forest fires in our provincial parks"
With moderate temperatures and sunny skies in store for the week, it's looking like an ideal weekend to get out and enjoy free access to Manitoba's beautiful parks and fantastic fishing.

You can get a sample of what you will see at Canada's National Ukrainian Festival (CNUF) 2023 by attending their kick-off party tonight.
The event will get underway at 5 and will take place in front of the CNUF office on 3rd Avenue Northeast, right across from the Co-op parking lot.
The night will include music by Boris and the Melody Kings, performances from the Zirka and Bratsva dance ensembles, a fundraising BBQ, discounts at the CNUF store, and 3 chances to win a weekend pass to the festival. All you have to do to enter is make any purchase at the store.
"If you've never been, you have to come. It's a little bit of a taste of what happens at the festival", said festival President, Kayla Gillis.
She also mentioned that they have some new board members who will be at the party and you are welcome to come down and meet them too.
When it concerns the festival itself, which happens during the August long weekend (August 4-6), Gillis said they will host a social on the Friday night. This will be in addition to the Zabavas that happen every year throughout the entire weekend. Also new this year, they will have a farmer's market.
Find a list of performers on their website, which is headlined by Shumka. Tickets are still available as well, but as they say, if you wait - you'll pay more at the gate!
The festival is also looking for volunteers. If you commit to a 4-hour shift, you will get a free day pass. If you volunteer for two 4-hour shifts, you'll get a free weekend pass. A free weekend pass AND a camping pass will go to anyone who volunteers for at least 3 shifts.
