Our first Rotary Radio Week feature this morning profiled the Rotary Fall Book Fair, which this year is set for November 7th to 9th at the Ukrainian Orthodox Hall.

Book donations can be dropped off at the hall beginning this Friday, with proceeds going towards youth-related programs through Rotary.

Local Rotarian Jean-Louis Guillas says the book fairs draw in shoppers from all over the place.

"We have regular shoppers that come in from McCreary, Laurier, and Ste Rose to the east, all the way down to Brandon.  People come because if you are a book shopper, and some books are out of print, used sales are the only places that you can find them.  And you can not argue with our prices, most of our books are two dollars or less."

The book fair goes from 9 am to 7 pm on November 7th and 8th, and from 9-4 on the 9th.

This year, the Crocus Quilters group will also be on site all three days to show off their work.

Two men and a female are facing a slew of charges after a traffic stop in Dauphin late last week.

The driver, a 34-year-old man from Ebb and Flow First Nation was in conversation with the officer. During this, drug paraphernalia was seen in the vehicle. As a result, he and his two passengers, a 46-year-old man and a 39-year-old female, both of Ebb and Flow First Nation, were placed under arrest and put into RCMP cruisers.

28 games of cocaine were located and seized along with cash, bear spray, a machete and other drug-related paraphernalia.

The trio from Ebb and Flow were released and will be in court on November 28. They face charges of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime and Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose.

The Dauphin Neighbourhood Renewal Corporation kicks off their indoor garage sale tomorrow afternoon.

The garage sale will take place inside their community centre on 3rd Avenue Northwest from 1-3 pm from Tuesday to Friday, and then from 9-1 on Saturday.

Executive Director Amanda Novak says they are thrilled with both the quality and quantity of items that were donated to them.

"We have had people that have cleaned out garages and homes, just doing some fall cleaning, and brought by their things, and we have everything here that a person can dream of.  I can not believe the huge response that we got from generous donors."

Proceeds from the garage sale have been earmarked for the Dauphin Food Bank.

You're sitting on the edge of your seat until the last pitch is over and our CEO Darwin John reveals the final results."

After the money from this year, Fusion will have given over $120,000 through this annual project, and its goal is to build community through business.

Csversko notes that the winners are often encouraged to use local contractors or services in building or growing their operations, feeding the local economy even more.

This event will be held at the Parkland Rec Complex in the Asen Lodge, and it will be open to the public to attend.

Csversko recommends audience members get there early and cheer loudly for the business they're hoping to win, as the lively, energetic atmosphere always makes for a fun time.

Dauphin Is the 3rd stop on this 40th Anniversary tour, so if you missed the cut on tickets, you'll still be able to catch one of their other Manitoba shows!

Attendees who bought their tickets ahead of time will have the chance to win their tickets back with a draw at the start of the night!.

And while there was a sizeable amount of presales, you might just be able to find a door ticket, but no promises.

You may have seen some Busy building equipment behind the big beaver in Dauphin.

The City Of Dauphin recently announced on its social media that The old water reservoir between Main Street and Jackson Street, which has been out of service for over 20 years, is being demolished.

Once the area is demolished and backfilled, a seamless, grassy hill will be left in its place.

The votes are in at the Manitoba General Employee's Union, and the New Collective health agreement has been ratified.

Roughly 6600 healthcare support workers in the Prairie Mountain Health and Interlake-Eastern Regional Health Authorities have voted to accept the tentative agreement reached by their bargaining committees and employers on October 8, 2024.

On average, MGEU Members will receive wage increases of %27 over the four years of the contract.

There are also improvements to sick leave, vacation provisions, and the addition of wellness days.

MGEU president Kyle Ross is pleased with the results:

It's a rather large increase. Our workers have told us they're really appreciative of this increase. It's unfortunate that it's not front-loaded, but our members are happy and so are we."

He also says the next steps will be to calculate the back pay, as the contract effect stretches to April.
