A one billion dollar class-action lawsuit has been filed over bread price-fixing with the lead plaintiff being former Manitoba Grand Chief, Derek Nepinak.

Loblaw Companies Ltd., George Weston Ltd., Canada Bread Company Ltd., Walmart Canada, Metro Inc and Giant Tiger have been named in a statement of claim with the Manitoba Court of Queen's Bench on December 29.

The poorest of people have been impacted on a price fix scheme for a basic necessity, which is the main focus behind this.

Other agencies across Canada have filed first class-action suits since the investigation was made public.
