Public health officials announced 291 new cases of COVID-19 and one death today.

The death was a man in his 40s from the Winnipeg Health region, linked to the B.1.1.7. variant of concern.

Two COVID-19 cases were associated with Henderson Elementary School in the two weeks prior to May 3rd, 2021.

A case in a school does not mean that COVID-19 was acquired or transmitted at school.

The outbreak at the Swan Valley Lodge Personal Care Home in Swan River has been declared over.

Today’s COVID-19 data shows:
• 12 cases in the Interlake–Eastern health region
• seven cases in the Northern health region  
• 31 cases in the Prairie Mountain Health region
• 29 cases in the Southern Health–Santé Sud health region
• 212 cases in the Winnipeg health region

There are 354 active cases in Prairie Mountain Health.

There has been a total of 2,705 variant cases in the province, 993 of which are active.

Prairie Mountain Health has had 249 variant cases, 197 are of the B.1.1.7. variant, 50 are unspecified, and two are of the B.1.3.5.1. variant.

The current five-day COVID-19 test positivity rate is 8.5 per cent provincially and 9.2 per cent in Winnipeg.

The total number of lab-confirmed cases in Manitoba is 39,814.

There are 2,692 active cases and 36,142 individuals who have recovered from COVID-19.

There are 120 people in hospital with COVID-19 and 62 people in hospital with COVID-19 who are no longer infectious but continue to require care, for a total of 182 hospitalizations.

There are 36 people in intensive care with COVID-19 and 11 people with COVID-19 who are no longer infectious but continue to require critical care, for a total of 47 ICU patients. 

The total number of deaths in people with COVID-19 is 980.

According to the province’s data, there are active cases of COVID-19 in the following Parkland health districts: Dauphin (14), Riding Mountain (5), Swan River (4), Porcupine Mountain (77), Duck Mountain (1), Agassiz Mountain (70), Asessippi (4), Little Saskatchewan (46), Whitemud (12). Brandon has 77 active cases.

In the Interlake, the Eriksdale/Ashern health district has 16 active cases of COVID-19. The Fisher/Peguis health district has nine active cases.
