Public health officials announced 261 new cases of COVID-19 and one death Thursday.

The death was a man in his 70s from the Northern Health region, linked to the Russell Health Centre.

The Outbreak at the Dauphin Personal Care home has been declared over, and Dauphin has one new case for a total of four active cases.

There have been a total of 36,890 cases and a total of 962 deaths in the province.

Today’s new COVID-19 cases are in the following health regions
• 25 cases in the Interlake–Eastern health region 
• 36 cases in the Northern health region  
• 10 cases in the Prairie Mountain Health region
• 31 cases in the Southern Health–Santé Sud health region
• 159 cases in the Winnipeg health region

There are 901 variant of concern cases in the province.

Prairie Mountain Health has 52 variant cases, 44 are the B.1.1.7., one is the B., and seven are unspecified.

There are 1,682 active cases and 34,246 individuals who have recovered from COVID-19.

There are 76 people in hospital with active COVID-19 and 69 people in hospital who are no longer infectious but continue to require care, for a total of 145 hospitalizations.

There are 21 people in intensive care units with active COVID-19 and 14 people who are no longer infectious but continue to require critical care, for a total of 35 ICU patients.

According to the province’s data, there are active cases of COVID-19 in the following Parkland health districts: Swan River (2), Porcupine Mountain (43), Dauphin (4), Riding Mountain (0), Duck Mountain (2), Agassiz Mountain (7), Asessippi (2), Little Saskatchewan (1), Whitemud (6). Brandon has 21 active cases.

In the Interlake, the Eriksdale/Ashern health district has one active case of COVID-19. The Fisher/Peguis health district has six active cases.
