Churchill, Manitoba will hold a public forum this afternoon on whether marijuana should be for sale in the town once it becomes legal next year.

The Manitoba government has given municipalities across the province until December 22nd to indicate whether they will allow private marijuana retail outlets.

Mayor Mike Spence says it's important to hear from the community, which has been facing more-pressing issues such as the loss of rail service due to flooding last spring.

Steinbach Mayor Chris Goertzen, who is head of the Association of Manitoba Municipalities, says he hasn't heard yet from any communities that want to ban cannabis stores.
