Along with yesterday’s record breaking high winds, came an extremely busy day for Dauphin’s Fire Department.

The department responded to seven calls throughout the day.

Dauphin Fire Department Chief Cam Abrey talks about the first fire that started the day off.

“Dauphin Fire Department was extremely busy yesterday due to the extreme wind conditions,” noted Abrey.  “It all started at approximately 6:30 in the morning with a grass and brush fire that was approaching somebody’s home.  The trees has been pushed into the overhead hydro lines which caused some arcing and sparks to drop into the grass and leaves below and the wind just started to push it towards the occupants home so we arrived in time at keep that at bay.”

Later towards the afternoon, the Dauphin Fire Department felt their resources were being stretched thin and received help through Mutual Aid to help with the call volume.
