The Dauphin Fire Department is asking the public to hold off on rural burning today.

This comes after the R.M. of Dauphin experienced two separate fire incidents yesterday, as well as a warning from Environment Canada about strong winds.  Here's a statment from the Dauphin Fire Department:

"With the wind warning issued by Environment Canada this morning, Dauphin Fire Department and the Rural Municipality of Dauphin strongly advise that there be no burning today. Even with proper fire guards in place, the winds may carry embers a distance and create further issues. Environment Canada states the winds will abate Wednesday morning and we should see everything back to normal. Thank you for your cooperation."

Strong winds can blow embers far from their original fire source, and cause significant issues. Stay tuned to CKDM for updates on the fire burning situation.
