Efforts are still being made to look at restoring the swinging bridge out in the R.M. of Dauphin.

A meeting is scheduled for Wednesday at the R.M. council chambers starting at 7:00 in the evening.

Jack Bremner, R.M. of Dauphin Councillor, gives some insight as to why he thinks the bridge is important to the area.

“Well when this first came up, I went out to the swinging bridge to look at it,” explained Bremner.  “I had to fight my way through some grass and weeds to actually get to the bridge.  If you go out there now, there is a well beaten path to the bridge.  Now if there are that many people going out to look at it and its not restored and we haven’t advertised it as a tourist attraction, it’s kind of neat.  It swings out over the bridge and you can actually go on the bridge and people can go on the cement crossing not very far away and take pictures of you on that bridge.”

Bremner believes this swinging bridge is one of three left in Manitoba.
