All constituents are invited to attend and discuss the Government of Canada’s legislation of legalizing recreational marijuana at a series of town halls presented by the Member of Parliament for Brandon- Souris.
Member Larry Maguire wants to hear what the public has to say about the issue of legal marijuana. He says that the legalization impacts all three levels of government. The provinces will have to determine how it is planned to be sold. Provinces will also need to set out what retail model will be used to sell the drug and create all the regulations surrounding those businesses.
Maguire has planned these events to discuss what is and is not contained in the two laws that aim for legalization, Bill C-45, and Bill C-46. With these discussions, Maguire plans to send the Minister of Justice and the Parliamentary committee studying the legislation, the views of the public.
Deloraine will host a town hall this evening at 7 and Virden will host the final meeting tomorrow from 7 until 9.
