Over 400 people came to Grandview last night to show support and vocalize their concerns about the closure of their ambulance station.

Citizens from Roblin, Tootinaowaziibeeng, Gilbert Plains, Dauphin, Rossburn and Ethelbert came out to show their support and local MLA Brad Michaleski came out to explain the reasoning behind the EMS changes.

Grandview physician, Dr. Jim Rae, talks about the upcoming partnership he hopes to see happen between Grandview and Tootinaowaziibeeng First Nation.

“I think that because we work so well together, it's important that we band together to combat these services that affect us all,” explained Rae.  “Chief Barry McKay was kind enough to come out and speak to that and he gave very full throated support to our EMS services for which I would like to thank him publicly.  We will build on that commitment and resolve and we will work together as two communities to maintain and even improve our services.”

A second meeting is scheduled for today at Tootinaowaziibeeng First Nation at 1:00 p.m.
