Lieutenant Governor, the Honourable Janice Filmon was in Dauphin yesterday as part of a ceremony to acknowledge the Lieutenant Governor’s Tree Project as part of Canada 150.

The honourable Janice Filmon, made a guest appearance in Vermillion Park as part of the dedication and to recognize Lieutenant Governor’s Award recipient, Jan Sirski and the tree planted in her honour.

The Honourable Janice Filmon, notes the impact of volunteers and people like Jan Sirksi.

“I mean volunteers are the gold of this earth,” noted Filmon.  “They give you their time and energy.  The very thing that life is made of and you don’t get it back and yet look what happens, our communities get built, right, and food banks staffed.  So that is what it was and it was a matter then of finding a tree.”

MP Robert Sopuck, MLA Brad Michaleski, Dauphin Mayor Eric Irwin and Dauphin Councillors Kathy Bellemare and Pattie Eilers took part in the ceremony.
