RCMP Major Crime Services identified the remains found on Tootinaowaziibeng First Nation on July 1, 2017.
The remains are those of an adult male, aged 44, from the community.
The investigation has determined the male died on June 21, 2017.
The victim had not been reported missing.
Rylan McKay, 23, of Tootinaowaziibeeng First Nation is charged with Second Degree Murder and remains in custody to appear in court on July 17, 2017.
The victim and McKay were known to each other.
The name of the victim will not be released
