Yesterday Afternoon the Dauphin Fire Department responded to a fire south of the city.

Dauphin Fire Chief Cam Abrey gives details about the incident

“Shortly before 5 pm yesterday afternoon Dauphin Fire was dispatched for a report of a structure fire south of the City of Dauphin just across from the airport along Highway 5 and 10. Crews were on scene for approximately 4 hours to contain the fire. It started out as a controlled burn by the property owner who did have a valid burn permit issued by the RM of Dauphin. But due to the dry conditions that we have been experience lately and the proximity to other combustibles the fire just grew beyond the owners control and he was very quick to call for assistance from the fire department.``

A large storage area full of wooden pallets was also lost in the fire.
