This afternoon First Nations protesters from the groups American Indian Movement, Urban Warrior Alliance and Idle No More began blocking a stretch of Highway 1 east of Winnipeg.
The purpose for the protest is to create awareness about mental health issues.
Traffic was backed up for at least 1 kilometre before the protesters cleared the highway at 3:15 p.m. today
