A local doctor is on board with Grandview's new imaging system.

Earlier this week the Grandview Legion Ladies Auxiliary branch announced they had raised funds for a new digital ultrasonic diagnostic imaging system for the Grandview Hospital.

Dauphin family medicine resident Dr. Jim Rae feels the machine will address serious situations more quickly and efficiently.

"The real use of the point of care ultrasound machine is in emergency medicine and trauma, what this lets us do is take a look inside organ systems that we often can't see in critical situations... I can quickly figure out if somebody has a collapsed lung, if they have fluid around their heart, or if they have bleeding in their belly that means they need to get seen by a specialized centre asap."

Doctor Rae will be setting up his family practice in Grandview come July.
