The City of Dauphin has taken a big step in allowing the public to view council meetings.

The city has created a YouTube page, where they will be posting streams of upcoming meetings.

Chief Administrative Officer Brad Collet says the city has two goals in mind for the YouTube channel.

"To provide information to the public, so they can get it at their leisure. The second goal is to protect ourselves in case Westman Cable changes the way they do operations, and thereby limiting peoples access to the information.

Collet added that the channel would be a one-way line of communication, and the city would not be responding to comments on videos posted on the YouTube Channel.
