They had a goal set, and they wouldn't be denied.
The Gilbert Plains Collegiate Youth Philanthropy Group have raised $10,000 over the past two and a half years with a purpose in mind.
Teacher/Supervisor Trevor Beals said a devestating occurance in Haiti caused his group to take action.
"At that time, the hurricane in Haiti had just happened, and they had decided that they wanted to raise money to help kids in Haiti go to school. So I did some research with the WE charity, and they said if we could raise $10,000, that would build a school in Haiti for children. So two years ago that became our goal of our youth philanthropy group."
The group received a big boost over the summer, a $4,000 grant from National Bank by winning the Young Idealist Award.
