Justin Trudeau's comments on phasing out Alberta's oilsands don't sit well with Dauphin's member of Parliament.

Dauphin-Swan River-Neepawa MP Robert Sopuck is of the mind that fossil fuels don't need to be done away with, and he says he was absolutely infuriated when the Prime Minister said "We can't shut down the oilsands tomorrow. We need to phase them out."

"I can't think of a better word, they absolutely infuriated me because they were so callous and disregarding of people's hopes and reams, so he better walk that one back because it has Canada-wide implications," says Sopuck.

Trudeau's comments came at a town hall in Ontario where he was asked about the approval of the Kinder TransMountain pipeline project.

Sopuck says environmental spending should be based on a priority basis and he thinks water and water quality is the number one environmental issue facing Canada.
