The province says charges are expected to be laid against seven people in two separate investigations into alleged illegal night hunting in southwestern Manitoba.
Manitoba Sustainable Development says a ground patrol was organized on December 9th after discovering the remains of two illegally killed elk south of Shilo, and around 11:15 at night a vehicle was seen approaching the area.
Three male suspects were apprehended and a Ford F-150, three rifles, a spotlight, and other hunting gear were seized.
The province says, in the early morning hours yesterday, an overnight patrol saw a suspect vehicle northwest of Glenboro allegedly using a spotlight. The suspect vehicle allegedly tried to flee after being signalled to stop, but spotters in an aircraft kept it under surveillance. The vehicle eventually lost control and went into a snow-packed ditch.
Four male suspects were arrested, and a GMC truck, two rifles, a spotlight, one freshly killed deer, brass knuckles, and other hunting gear were seized.
Charges are expected to be laid in both incidents at a later date.
