Parents are grateful for a quick response from firefighters after a fire at a kids centre in Roblin was extinguished with no one hurt.

Roblin Fire Department arrived on scene at 3 o'clock yesterday, after being notified of a structure fire at the Roblin Children's Centre.

According to Roblin Fire Chief Alf Brade says no injuries were reported.

"We got a call around 3 o'clock in the afternoon, the fire was contained to a storage area in the rear of the building and in the ceiling area... we were able to extinguish without too much difficulty, and that there was no real fire extension to the rest of the structure."

Chair of the Centre, Megan Leflar who's on the board of directors was extremely impressed how her staff and children handled the situation.

"The staff does regular fire drills so the children knew exactly what to do, and my daughter she's five years old and when I talked to her about it after she told me that the teacher put there red hat on, and they all lined up and went out the door... they didn't even know there was something going on because they have these regular fire drills, so they just thought it was another fire drill."

The facility currently takes care of kids ranging from ages two to six.
