Wait times in Emergency Rooms across Manitoba, and Winnipeg in particular have been the highest in Canada for 5 years in a row.
The national average for ER wait times are roughly three and a half hours, while some Winnipeg hospitals have wait times, upwards of five or six hours.
Chief Executive Officer of Prairie Mountain Health Penny Gilson says that they're working on distributing a system to track wait times to hospitals in the PMH region.
They have just one for now, which is in Brandon, and wait times there, are well below the Canadian average.
"On average, our wait time in Brandon our wait time for the emergency room are typically anywhere from two, to two and a half hours. And we track those numbers on a regular basis."
Six of Winnipeg's largest hospitals rank in the top 12 longest wait times across Canada.
