Manitoba RCMP are warning that 10 more people could die in road collisions this year if things continue as they are.

This has been an exceptionally bad year for fatal road collisions in Manitoba, with more than 100 deaths already.

RCMP Assistant Commissioner Scott Kolody, Minister of Crown Services Ron Schuler, and Director of Loss Prevention for Manitoba Public Insurance Shannon Bunkowsky were at a press conference today, launching the annual Holiday Checkstop program, which officially kicks off Friday.

According to RCMP, 105 people have died on the province's highways so far this year compared to 80 last year. Winnipeg police say 14 people have been killed on city streets in 2016.

A 29-year-old man was killed in a two-vehicle collision on Highway 6 near St. Laurent yesterday.
