Christmas starts in Dauphin this week, with the annual tree lighting on Friday and the Parade of Lights on Saturday.
Friday's tree lighting will also be when the local Chamber of Commerce announces the winner of this year's storefront decorating contest.
The theme this year is Santa's Workshop. Winners are chosen based on a point system. Chamber executive director Stephen Chychota says the point system is based on five things.
"There's creativity, the overall decorations, did they tie their business into the decorations -- so did they use some of their products -- is it eye-catching and very bright, and did they incorporate the theme."
Last year's winner was Style Mercantile.
