Prairie Mountain Health has not been able to establish a Local Health Involvement Group in the Dauphin area due to a lack of volunteers.

CEO Penny Gilson says LHIGs exist to ensure additional voices are informing the board of directors on policy and strategic issues. There are supposed to be four LHIGs in Prairie Mountain, but the Dauphin, McCreary, Ste. Rose area never had enough people.

"It's basically the grassroots voice that the board goes to when they're thinking about certain policy issues."

Gilson says if anyone's interested in joining the group, go to Prairie Mountain Health's website and fill out an application.
