The National Advisory Committee on Immunization is recommending all Canadians aged six months and older get the seasonal flu vaccine.

The committee says flus make most of us feel generally unwell, but for some, the highly contagious illness can lead to severe complications requiring hospitalization or even death.

Vice-Chair of Immunize Canada Dr. Le Saux says "This makes influenza prevention by healthy individuals who can pass it on to those at high risk for severe complications a necessity."

Dauphin has an appointment-only flu shot clinic scheduled for October 24 at the community health office. There are dates set across the Parkland through late October and November.
