Shamattawa RCMP have arrested a youth in relation to a fire that occurred yesterday.
Just after 4 pm yesterday, Shamattawa RCMP responded to a fire at the Shamattawa First Nation Band Office. While arriving on scene the building housing the Northern Store and the Band Office were on fire, with crews working to extinguish the flames.
However, the fire continued throughout the night, damaging the building extensively.
RCMP say, investigation revealed that six youths were involved with setting the fire, and a 12-year-old male was arrested.
Five of the youths are under the age of 12 and cannot be charged under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
The 12-year-old male was released on a Promise to Appear say RCMP.
