The first week of school may be extra special this year for students at Ochre River School.
Earlier this Summer, the school unveiled a brand new playground that resembles many characteristics of a pirate ship.
Member of the Parent Council at Ochre River School, Liza Hess says the construction of the new playground was very personal for her.
She added, "My son is actually the guy who goes to school here with the disability, so that's how the project came to be... this playground was sand before we put the wood fibre in it, so he wasn't able to move around the playground at all independently."
The council was recently recognized for its community involvement at the Ochre River Community Foundation Dinner this past Saturday.
