Hard work does pay off for this Parkland girl.

Emma Peterson of Winnipegosis is in the final four in CMT's Chevy Tailgate contest where she and three others are competing to win studio time in Nashville.

Peterson says she is starting to get emotional as the days get closer to voting time.

"On my drive here I actually teared up in the vehicle when I heard Al say that I was coming into the studio. It's proving to me that after seven years of writing and singing it's all paying off like I didn't think it would pay off" says Peterson.

This Friday at the WAC, Peterson has been asked to be one of three song writers to come and take part in the Songwriters Series as an "up and coming."

"I feel like 2016 has been the year where more people have heard my voice and more people are going to hear my voice is the Chevy Tailgate contest goes through" says Peterson. "But on Friday it's going to be super nice... no one really hears the songs that I write... so it's going to be nice for people to hear the other songs that I've written" Peterson adds.

Tickets for the  Songwriters Series are $10 and can be purchased at the Watson Art Centre, Dauphin Music and Electronics and The Dauphin Coffee Company (in the Mall) or online at www.watsonartcentre.com. The event starts at 7pm in the Old Fire Hall.

Online voting for the Chevy Tailgate Contest doesn't start until August 29th and it ends on September 10th and a winner will be announced on September 11th.
