Construction can now get underway for the new Trapper's Education Centre at the Duck Mountain Interpretive Centre after receiving a cheque on Friday.

MLA for Swan River and legislative assistant of Manitoba Sustainable Development, Rick Wowchuk presented the cheque to the Duck Mountain Trapper's Association for $27,000 and says that later upon completion of the education centre they will receive an extra $3,000 making a total of $30,000.

Wowchuk adds that this new centre is an exciting addition.

"You know, we have got a lot of history and heritages out there that you know a lot of people don't want to see disappear and this gives the opportunity to bring this information to the public so that they can learn about it."

The funding for this project was through the Fish and Wildlife Enhancement Fund.
