Some bad spots for vehicle collisions in Dauphin could be getting traffic signals in the future.
Manitoba Infrastructure director of regional operations, Marc Allard says at the request of the City of Dauphin, Manitoba Infrastructure studied a few intersections in town.

He says traffic signals are warranted at the intersection of Main Street and 1st Avenue South as well as at River and Mountain. But the River/Mountain intersection also has 1st Street, which creates a bit of an issue.

"We almost look at it as a fifth street to the intersection which creates a little bit of a concern and safety from an operational perspective so we will have to look at that one a little bit further."

A pedestrian crosswalk is being put up at the intersection by Dauphin's Post Office.

Allard says there has only been funding approved for the pedestrian crossing.

"I'm not a hundred per cent sure of the timing, it's something that can probably go into the late fall months, so I would anticipate that sometime this fall we should see completion there."

Main Street and 4th Avenue South was studied. He says it's been found that traffic signals are not warranted at this time, but they will continue to monitor that intersection.
