Canadian owners of a Ruger 10/22 rimfire rifle could see changes in the near future.

The RCMP have recently made statements indicating that all Ruger 10/22 magazines capable of holding more than ten rounds could be listed as prohibited devices.

Member of Parliament for Dauphin, Neepawa and Swan River Robert Sopuck says the potential decision could wrongfully charge owners of Ruger 10/22 rifles. He said, "What this decree does is take the half a million 10/22 rifle owners who bought these large capacity magazines making them criminals over night."

Sopuck added the decision is grossly unfair. If passed, the decision would not affect anyone owning a Remington fire rifle or other manufacturers.

No public bulletin has been officially released yet by RCMP.
