Today is the day everyone has been waiting for, Countryfest kicks off today, but it is reminded that everyone drive safely.
Constable, Rob Tuff says the speed zone on the highway between Dauphin and the festival site has been reduced.

"The speed zone has actually been reduced to 70. That's just for a temporary basis allowing safety for people getting into the site."

Tuff says the big message for this weekend is if you are drinking, don't drive as there will be checkstops.

"That's the big message that is out every year. There is a shuttle service, take advantage of that, take advantage of a designated driver anything like that. Other things we will be looking for, you know any other driving infractions like speeding, seat belt usage, texting while driving, or talking on your cellphone while driving."

The checkstops are sponsored by Manitoba Public Insurance
