Since the fair will still be in full swing by the time Canada Day rolls around, the Dauphin Fire Department wants the public to know that you cannot park in the grounds area for the fireworks.
Fire Chief, Cam Abrey says that there are some options if you plan on attending the fireworks.

"We ask that if people want to walk to the grand stands they're more than welcome to do that. There is parking available along 1st Avenue South East, if you want to park on the residential streets to the south of the grounds and walk in through the gates that is fine as well."

They are advising that people do not park in the Manitoba Hydro Parking lot either but, you can park along Whitmore Ave.

Abrey also says if you plan on setting off consumer fireworks, if not handled properly it could be dangerous.

"The firework debris does fall back down, they are hot, they don't allow a very long burn time before they fire off. So the best way to protect your family is to not use any fireworks at home- period."

Abrey says it's best to stay safe and attend public fireworks displays, and leave the lighting to the professionals.
