Crash on Highway 83 Kills Roblin Man
 
One man is dead after a two-vehicle collision north of Russell.
 
Police say a car travelling northbound on Highway 83 crossed into the southbound lane and hit a large truck carrrying concrete blocks.
 
A 57-year-old man from Roblin was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the truck wasn't hurt.
 
RCMP say alcohol doesn't appear to be a factor and the investigation is ongoing.

Ag Event Cancelled in McCreary
 
McCreary's fair, pony chariot and chuckwagon races event set for this weekend is cancelled, due mainly to wet and unsafe grounds.
 
The McCreary Ag Society says the track is very wet and there's more rain in the forecast.
 
The ag society will announce if the fair is rescheduled or another event is planned.

Winnipeg Man Charged with Child Sex Crimes
 
A 54-year-old Winnipeg man has been accused of sex crimes against two children dating back to 1994.

Police allege a man provided pornographic material, inappropriately touched and sexually assaulted one child aged between four and nine years old from 1994 to 1999.

Another child who was between four and 13 alleges the man exposed himself and sexually assaulted the child between 1998 and 2007.

Mike John Zoldy is charged with two counts of sexual assault, two counts of sexual interference, sexual exploitation, invitation to sexual touching and corrupting morals.

No Government Compensation for Flooded Basements in Selkirk
 
The mayor of a Manitoba city says residents won't be eligible for government compensation after their basements were flooded with raw sewage.

Selkirk was hit with a torrential downpour on June 9th and the city's storm sewer drains couldn't keep up with the 86 millimetres of rain that fell over a 24-hour period.

Mayor Larry Johannson says up to 130 basements were affected by flooding and some took in raw sewage, but they aren't eligible for provincial or municipal compensation.

The city says most home insurance companies offer options for sewer backup and basement flooding.

Meatloaf Collapses at Edmonton Show
 
Rock singer Meat Loaf was rushed to an Edmonton hospital last night after collapsing during a show at the Jubilee Auditorium.

His condition is not known and Alberta Health Services officials won't comment.

Video of the performance shows him bending over, then knocking down his mike stand and falling to the floor.

Patrons were asked to leave the auditorium as band members and others with the show rushed to his side.

He had cancelled two other concerts in Calgary and Moose Jaw, citing ill health.

Restaurant Chain Challenging Kimmel to Drink Canadian Cocktail
 
The MR MIKES franchise has issued a challenge to an American talk show host.
 
MR MIKES SteakhouseCasual wants Jimmy Kimmel to drink a Caesar on Canada Day.
 
Robin Chakrabarti, owner of the company behind MR MIKES, says they want to introduce Americans to the cocktail and help figure out why they're unfamiliar with it.
 
"It's been a topic of conversation within the restaurant industry for years: Why don't Americans drink Caesars? So we wanted to help solve that mystery and if we couldn't figure out why they don't we wanted to lead the charge on getting Americans to try another Canadian invention."
 
A video challenge was issued to Kimmel online on May 19th, National Caesar Day.
