The City of Dauphin looks forward to giving away trees of six varieties.
These trees will go to residents and businesses to plant on their properties throughout the city.
"Our tree giveaway has always been successful; every time we've done it, there has been tons of response to it," said Christian Laughland. "That's the case once again this year, people are already wanting to get in on the action."
Silver Maple, Silver Cloud Silver Maple, Klondie Amur Cherry, Starlite Flowering Crabapple, Ivory Silk Tree Lilac, and Japanese Tree Lilac are up for grabs. You can get more information on the trees here.
If you're interested in a tree, you must submit an application by May 9. You can get paper copies at City Hall or click here. Pick-up day will be Thursday, May 15. If you are assigned a tree, but do not pick it up by that day, it will be re-assigned on a first-come, first-served basis.
"The tree giveaway has always been successful, we know how successful trees are, we lose many every year," ended Laughland. "Replenishing those in our community is significant and people understand that, which is why it's always such a success."
There will be 90 trees up for grabs.
