As part of Ag Appreciation Week here at 730 CKDM, we're highlighting local voices on the importance of the Agricultural sector in Dauphin and the area.
Today we spoke with Stephen Chychota with the Parkland Chamber Of Commerce on what they do to support the local Agricultural communities.
The Chamber helps a lot of local businesses in many ways, from offering avenues of communication to insurance plans.
Working so closely with both producers and local businesses, Chychota sees the economic powerhouse that the Ag sector is.
"Ag in this sector is huge. It's the largest industry we have in the area, so it's a big economic driver for our region and our small businesses. it's part of that ecosystem we talk about where money changes hands in the community."
The work that the Chamber does and that Ag producers do are a better match than most people expect, as both of them work towards growing a strong community.
Chychota is proud that he can give back to Ag workers through some of the Chamber's programs.
"A lot of farms, family farms or corporate, there's a number around here that take advantage of the Chamber Group Insurance Plan specifically. They're Chamber members, so they benefit a little bit from everything we do, but also the group plan. They're able to, for their family and their staff, get benefits and health coverage for the things that they need."
