All of the families to come to Dauphin from Syria this month agree that learning English is the most important step in their transition to living here.

Riyad Suleyman, Louai Alassaf, and Mahmoud Almasalmeh spoke to CKDM through a translator yesterday.

When asked if they'd be strapping on skates to play some hockey soon, they said learning English is the top priority.

"The three of them agree: language first and then the rest of the activity would come. But (one) gentleman, he said he doesn't mind watching a game rather than just playing."

The Dauphin Inter-church refugee team is holding a concert which includes Desiree Dorion at St. Viator's Church on March 13. Donations will go to the refugee families.
