A new facility is in the works for Wilson Park!
The Grandview Recreation Commission is looking to revitalizing the buildings that were once the washrooms and the food booth stand, and turn it into a multi-use facility.

Rec Director for the Grandview and District Rec Commission, Jill Wiebe says that they have already received funding from organizations for the project.

"We do have money coming from Community Futures Parkland, we have the Grandview Community foundation that has donated money and the Grandview Minor Ball received a grant from the Grandview Credit Union, and all those funds are going to go towards the building."

They are still in the beginning planning stages of it all, but they plan for the facility to have wheelchair accessible washrooms, a concession booth, showers and a storage unit.

There will be two phases to the project. The first phase will be the demolition, water works and plumbing. Then the second phase will be the actual build of the facility and the finishes.

Wiebe says its good that the park is getting the upgrades that it needs.

"With the new upgrades more people, users, community members and community groups will use our park for baseball, special events and camping. Anything that goes on within our loop of Wilson Park, everybody will use it."

There is no exact full cost for the facility.

Wiebe says that they are still looking for sponsors or help with the build with monetary donations, or volunteers.
