A paramedic from STARS Air Ambulance was in Dauphin last night for a training seminar with several local fire departments.

All 11 departments from the Riding Mountain District were in attendance, including Dauphin's Fire Chief Cam Abrey.

Abrey says they went over the firefighters' role in working with STARS.

"So anytime STARS comes into the area, it's usually the firefighters that are setting up the landing zone for the chopper that's coming in. So we reviewed what size of an area, what precautions have to be taken, and what our role is and how function in that."

Abrey says, as always, it was great to get to work with STARS and the various surrounding fire departments
