On Friday night, people gathered at the Dauphin Friendship Center, and heard from speakers, and enjoyed a healthy meal that included turkey, vegetable chili and fruit.

Account Manager with Diabetes Canada Kevin Young says that diabetes is reaching 'epidemic levels' in Canada.

"Currently 11 million Canadians have diabetes or early diabetes in this country, that's almost thirty per cent of our population. The fact of the matter is, the farther north that you go in Manitoba, in some of our indigenous community's, we're looking at four to seven times the normal rate of diabetes."
