Recently, Pallister and the PCs have said they would only discuss the

topic of extending Sunday shopping hours if there was a strong interest by Manitobans for it.

Strong advocates for the extension or freedom to have longer hours are coming from groups like the Winnipeg Chamber of Commerce and The Retail Council of Canada.

Executive Director for the Dauphin Chamber of Commerce, Stephen Chychota says, for here in Dauphin if this were ever to go through, it would have to be up to the retailers if they would like to extend their hours.

"If it's advantageous for a retailer to be open a little later or earlier for that matter then by all means I encourage it, because if they have access to something that makes them better then they should definitely take advantage of it."

Shopping hours on Sunday in Manitoba are allowed for any period between 9:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.

The Dauphin Chamber of Commerce wants to know what your thoughts are on the topic. You can let them know by emailing the office at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
