The National Association of Friendship Centres, in partnership with Indigenous and Northern Affairs Canada, is conducting a survey online, asking what needs the government is or isn't currently meeting.
Smith says the reason this first-time survey is being done is more than half of First Nations people and the majority of Metis people in Canada live in urban settings.
"With this survey, the government wants to establish: what are the needs of urban aboriginal people (in) the areas of education, health, and employment," says Smith.
The survey is completely anonymous.
It has been up since August 9 and will remain up until August 26th.
