Six Taken to Winnipeg Hospital After Suspect Vehicle Hits Another During Police Pursuit
A two-vehicle crash during a police chase in Winnipeg is being investigated by Manitoba's Indepedent Investigation Unit.
Winnipeg Police has told the IIU officers were pursuing a vehicle around 2:45 early yesterday morning when the suspect vehicle struck a car at the intersection of McPhillips Street and Redwood Avenue.
The vehicle struck was hit on the passenger side. Two adults in the second vehicle, and four youths from the suspect vehicle were taken to hospital.
The driver of the suspect vehicle fled on foot, according to police.
The IIU says the investigation is ongoing.

Wildfire Evacuations Lifted in Two Manitoba Areas
The Manitoba government has lifted wildfire evacuation orders for Nora and Florence Lakes.
Area residents are still asked to travel with caution in the area, since fire crews continue to work next to roads and may also be camped along them.
The province says fires remain active on the Ontario side of the Beresford wildfire.
Manitoba crews are installing additional fire suppression equipment on some remote structures on the Manitoba side of the fire.

Rescue Needed After Wind Pushes Paddleboat on Lake Winnipeg
A short paddleboat ride on Lake Winnipeg over the weekend turned into a harrowing ordeal for a family when the wind pushed them far from shore.
Inspector Paul McQueen with the Victoria Beach Police says the wind prevented the four adults and two children from paddling back.
Police say a kayaker brought them life jackets and another person on a jet ski tried to pull them back to shore, but it wasn't powerful enough.
Firefighters with a Zodiac inflatable boat eventually rescued them.
A large wave flipped the paddleboat after the last of the family boarded the Zodiac.

Canadian Icon Gord Downie Diagnosed with Brain Cancer
Terrible news coming from the Tragically Hip this morning.
The band says on their website that front man Gord Downie has been diagnosed with terminal brain cancer.
They say they've decided to tour, and will try to make it their best tour yet.
